Home Life
Family life revolved around the kitchen. In a 2 or 3 roomed cottage, the warm and safe kitchen was where everything in the household happened. The cottage was composed of the kitchen, the main bedroom, and maybe with older children, another bedroom was added in cob or wattle 'n daub. With it's thatched roof, the cottage was always warm and dry and a haven from the hard work of the day.
